Initially, Yelp!BR was operated out of Commercial Properties Realty Trust’s office building and the dogs were housed at Petz Plaza and in foster homes.

As Yelp!BR grew, so did the number of dogs we began to house and shelter, and it was evident we would need a shelter of our own. 

Through the generosity of Joe Greco in the Spring of 2010, Yelp!BR was able to establish its own much needed dog shelter. Located at 3205 Lanier Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Yelp House houses approximately 50 dogs. The house is staffed and is operated by Yelp!BR The Yelp House has been a wonderful addition to Yelp!BR.  It allows us to quarantine new dogs for treatable illnesses, such as kennel cough, before they become available for adoption.   In addition, it has a wonderful yard with brand new outdoor covered kennels(and fans on those hot days) that allows the dogs to be outside for the majority of the day.  The yard allows us to socialize the dogs and let them play!

Visitors are welcome at the Yelp House Saturday - Sunday 11am - 5:30pm.   Most of the dogs available for adoption at the House have come from East Baton Rouge Animal Shelter.  By working with the Shelter, we are able to get dogs who have been owner surrendered or strays. From its inception, the Yelp House has been a success due to the nu­merous volunteers who have volunteered their time and energy to help out wherever needed.
